A new universe in Barcelona

On the Avenida Diagonal, in the heart of Barcelona, is the new SOFIA: an exclusive five-star hotel. This emblematic hotel exudes an air of innovation, sophistication and exclusivity in all its corners.

Its wide variety of gastronomic proposals, leisure and relaxation, makes a safe bet to live a complete experience in Barcelona.

After an integral process of a reconceptualization of all its spaces, and an investment of 60 million euros, it is a spectacular and unique architectural work.

For this new concept, SOFIA owned by Selenta Group has had outstanding partners for its different areas and services.

Albert Blanch and the SBC studio have been responsible for carrying out the architecture and interior design work of the hotel. It includes the design of meeting rooms, common areas and facades, among other spaces.

The rooms have been designed by Selenta Group‘s own interior design team.

But not everything ends here. Another star collaboration is the gastronomic advice of chef Carles Tejedor, who is in charge of the different restaurants of the Hotel SOFIA. Each of these spaces has been designed by Jaime Beriestain, who has worked as an interior consultant.

Juan Avellaneda has been the fashion designer in charge of making the staff uniform. While the perfumer Ramon Monegal has managed to create his perfume for the SOFIA present in all spaces of the place.

In this new corner, design, gastronomy, exclusive services and digitalisation become high-level proposals, both for the local public and for the visitor.

The reopening of the SOFIA has as its primary objective to become a point of reference in Barcelona, with proposals linked to exclusivity, elegance, attention to detail and the avant-garde.

After crossing its entrance threshold, it is even more evident that the establishment has leapt of the century: a new open and design hall, much more luminous and personalised with individual counters and for groups.

In the interior design of the hotel, both in the lobby that welcomes customers and in the select VIP floors, there are 2,300 m2 of laminates installed. They are combined with other materials such as ceramics, marble and natural woods.

In the lobby, they stand out in various designs (aluminium and silver) and carefully finished finishes applied to the ceiling in original suspended polyhedral sculptures, and forming different mirrors in columns and walls.

In the VIP plants, the laminate in grey colour and gloss finish provides all the luxury and sophistication that this exclusive area of the hotel requires.

The hotel has 447 rooms and 18 design suites, a comprehensive offer in the style of large American hotels, but with a decidedly European aesthetic.

The ‘new look’ is drastic in the rooms, which are divided into:

  • HARMONY: stay with balanced and harmonious interior design.
  • SPHERE: bedroom with furniture with modern lines.
  • INFINITY: room finished in marble, wood and golden tones, offers panoramic views of the city.
  • SO SUITE: a spacious junior suite with views of the city, according to dimensions and features, with minimalist furniture, wood and stone, generous proportions, lots of light and viewpoints to look out onto Avenida Diagonal.

The 465 rooms of SOFIA have a modern and avant-garde design. All rooms, equipped with the most advanced home automation technology, transmit harmony, balance and exclusivity, and invite you to relax and get into the soul of Barcelona through its panoramic views.

The spaces have a great personality. That’s how the SPHERE rooms are. Located on floors 1 to 6, they are inspired by the cosmopolitan style of the city.

With furniture of contemporary design, in which the circular mirror is the main protagonist – half between a dresser and an HD Smart TV – it is the place of those who are surprised with every detail. A breakthrough and different space, ideal to inspire and let yourself be fascinated.

The 18 suites, the most exclusive rooms, respond to the name of WISH and are located on the good floors of the building.

Stresses Wish Granted, the penthouse, a penthouse of 300 square meters with great views of the city, consisting of a living area, office, a large bedroom, dressing table, dressing room, two bathrooms, a private office for stewardship and a place for the service.

All the suites -First Wish, Great Wish and Best Wish- have personalised 24-hour butler service (Mr Rightnow).

The new SOFIA has five gastronomic spaces: two restaurants, a book cafe with shelves full of books that also offer pastry products to take away, an area for night entertainment with music and live performances and an elegant bar with an impressive circular bar.

The gastronomic offer is based on five different culinary spaces: continental, Mediterranean style, great classics, sweet notes and contemporary touches.

Directed by the chef Carles Tejedor, the SOFIA kitchen is committed to the most avant-garde and international trends, but maintaining the classic flavours, using local and fresh products.

Impar, with three bars of differentiated flavour and different cuisines of the world; and the café-boulangerie, Philosofia, ideal for taste or to take.

The new SOFIA is more than a five-star hotel: it is a new and unique universe in Barcelona. Are you going to visit it?
